Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Artists of the Limberlost
Opening Reception Friday May 6 from 5 to 8 pm.
On May 6 a new exhibition opens at The Art Space Gallery, "Out of the Woods," celebrating the fifth anniversary of the popular Artists of the Limberlost studio tour. The exhibition features recent work by members Jerry Friedman; driftwood sculpture, Susan Higgins; fused & stained glass, Mark Kulas; acrylic painting, Brian Markham; woodturning, Jeff Miller; oil & acrylic painting, Catherine O’Mara; egg tempera painting, Sharon Stock Feren; mosaic, painting & photography, and Brenda Wainman Goulet; bronze sculpture. Joining the group for this show is a former member, decorative painter Linda Smith. Memorabilia from previous tours will be included in the exhibition as well.
Each August Artists of the Limberlost welcomes hundreds of visitors to explore eight art studios along the scenic Limberlost Rd just east of Huntsville. The tour invites guest artists to show at each studio, and in the course of 5 years, Artists of the Limberlost will have provided exposure for 41 artists and an engaging cultural adventure for well over 2,000 visitors. The tour has been enthusiastically supported by the local community and has become a destination cultural event in the Huntsville area. This year Artists of the Limberlost will be held August 13 & 14. During the tour weekend each artist’s work is seen in his or her own studio, so this exhibition at The Art Space is the first time the members have exhibited together.
