History
The Huntsville Art Society was first established in Muskoka as s the Huntsville Art Council when the Centennial/Summit center was first constructed. The group then changed to the Huntsville Art Crowd and in 2009 a member's vote determined it's recent name: the Huntsville Art Society. In the beginning this small group of enthusiastic artists and craftsmen met informally to share their common interest in visual arts.
A volunteer Board of Directors was formed to provide leadership and direction. In 2007, the Huntsville Art Society became incorporated as a not-for-profit entity. The Board (which is reviewed each year at the annual general meeting) is responsible for coordinating a number of art shows per year, researching new venues, providing information and networking to members, administration and accountability of club funds, bylaws and strategic planning for the future. We have at least six Board meetings per year and an all member Annual Meeting each fall.
