What better way to learn than to be exposed to various art forms and styles and to have the opportunity of working with the artist whose work is being discussed! The young artist may learn a new art form, experience a different style, use various media and practice under the guidance of the artist.

Stone Carving with Elise Muller
Thursdays 4:00 – 5:30 at The Art Space
Ages 9 – 12
Cost: $85 includes materials and HST
In four weeks you will learn to make your own necklaces, touchstones, and even carve small stone sculptures. Using hand tools like rifflers, rasps and files you will shape Quebec Soapstone into your desired shapes. Afterwards you will polish the stone smooth using various polishing sponges and wet sand papers. Discover your inner stone carver under the guidance of stone sculptor Elise Muller. Learn the art of cartooning with Jenn Snowden! Brainstorming and group participation will lead the creative process on how to develop a character, a design and the story line. You will be guided to develop your own characters as you will learn the basics of drawing a cartoon character and of developing caricatures of people you know. Be prepared for switching things up…..you might just become the subject of a new cartoon series! Each session presents new opportunities. Sign up for one or more!

This will be a group project where each child will learn team work using the creative process. The result will be the group participating in the Santa Claus Parade with celebration at the end, where the piñata can be opened and shared!
